Our new group of interns at Engage to Change DFN Project SEARCH Cardiff University have completed their induction week! The week, packed full of information and activities, included some team-building exercises. The interns built spaghetti and marshmallow towers and the highest tower won!

The group also took part in equality and diversity training with Dr Steve Beyer. They learnt about what equality and diversity means, how to recognise discrimination, and how the university makes sure they have an equal and diverse workforce.

Following induction week, the interns have been taking their first steps towards their first of three internships.

Jason started his first internship on Monday 2 October and will be working with the portering team at the Biological Sciences department in the Sir Martin Evans Building. He will be directing students to lecture theatres as well as supporting the portering teams with their duties. He has settled in well and is already impressing his colleagues.

In other DFN Project SEARCH news, ELITE Supported Employment job coach Lily Beyer along with volunteer co-ordinator Benny Griffiths had interest from over 50 prospective volunteers at Cardiff University volunteer fair at the end of September. A training session was then held with 5 dedicated volunteers in attendance, who will be starting officially on 10 October when they come to meet the interns!
