Find out more about some of the fantastic Employment Advisors who are currently working across the project.  The following four Employment Advisors are a part of ELITE’s team who are supporting young people across South and West Wales on the Engage to Change project.

Gillian Rees

Job: Employment Advisor

What is your new role on Engage to Change?

I have changed from working as a job coach to an Employment Advisor

 What do you enjoy most about your job ?

I love meeting and working with the Participants. Watching their journey into employment and seeing them grow in confidence, learning new skills and meeting new people.

What has been your proudest moment on Engage to Change?

There are many, one in particular occurred when a young man who is very interested in Amateur dramatics, Cinema and Film industry obtained employment in the Vue Cinema. He has been working there for over 4 years now and continues to enjoy his work, especially the free tickets he gets for himself and his family every month.

Tell us a few of your favourite things (outside work!)

I enjoy walking along the Gower coastline, cooking and trying out new recipes.

Do you have any useful tips or advice  that you would like to share to help YP find paid employment?

I would say to be open with your job choices, and be prepared to try something that you may not have thought about.

 

Lisa Kent   

 Job: Employment Advisor 3-5

 What is your role on Engage to Change?

My role is to enable people with a disability to find, maintain and sustain  paid employment.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy helping people, watching them succeed and achieve their dreams.

Do you have speciality, such as a skill or strength that you can share?

My strength is my ability to be open minded and talk to anyone, about anything.

What has been your proudest moment in your life?

Moving to Wales with my fiancé  which has been a lifelong dream of ours.

Tell us a few of your favourite things (outside work!)

Beach walks with our dogs and a good book.

 

Katie Snelling

 Job:  Employment Advisor

What is your role on Engage to Change?

 I am working on the E2C DFN Project SEARCH Programme for Princess of Wales Hospital.  I will support and advise participants through their job preparation and work placements.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

 I enjoy meeting new people and helping others develop their skills and gain employment.

Do you have speciality, such as a skill or strength that you can share?

Communication, I love speaking with people and making them feel comfortable and able to speak about themselves and their worries.

What has been your proudest moment in your life?

Achieving my degree in health and care of children and young people.

Tell us a few of your favourite things (outside work!)

I love going on holidays,  meeting family and friends and shopping.

 

Shayla Ellis

 Job: Employment Advisor

 What is your role on Engage to Change?

To support individuals within Coleg Y Cymoedd to develop their work related skills.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Being around different people which allows me to communicate and socialise.

Do you have speciality, such as a skill or strength that you can share?

I am passionate about helping people and believe this is my speciality.

What has been your proudest moment in your life?

Walking over the O2.
