How do you feel about your time on the Engage to Change DFN Project SEARCH programme?

I feel that my time on Project SEARCH has been very good. There were ups and downs but overall, a good time.

What internships have you done since you started Engage to Change DFN Project SEARCH?

My first internship was in the English Language Programs Area, on the first floor of Deri House. My second internship was in the physics department. My third internship was in the Haydn Ellis building.

What has been your favourite internship and why?

I feel my favourite has been my third internship at the Haydn Ellis building doing data entry. This is my favourite internship because I enjoyed the work I did there and I got along with all the people I worked with.

Describe some of the tasks you carried out during the year.

In my third placement I have been looking at many different forms and inputting the information onto a tablet version. I have also helped a bit in the labs, printing off bar code labels.

How has it helped you to be on Engage to Change DFN Project SEARCH and what have you learned during the year?

When I first started I wasn’t sure what job I would have wanted to do, but now after my three internships, I now know I would like to have a job in data entry.

How have Lily (job coach), Kerri and Bev (college instructors) helped you during the year? What kind of support have you had from them?

They have helped me out a lot this year. They have always been able to help me if there was something I didn’t understand and when learning new tasks in my internships.

What kind of jobs are you applying for and have you been successful yet?

I have found it very hard to look and apply for jobs but, Kerri and Lily have been helping me to get through this. I have been successful and I now have a job working with the National Centre for Mental Health as a research assistant.

Now that Engage to Change DFN Project SEARCH is coming to an end, what would you like to do, or what do you plan to do in the future?

I would like to see how long I can keep this job for.
