Zoe Williams, Job Coach

What is your role on Engage to Change?

My role is to support and empower individuals with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities in the workplace. As a Job Coach, I help individuals to enhance their strengths and improve their job skills, and teach them to use their strengths and skills effectively.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy seeing the individuals succeeding and reaching their goals, and knowing that I’ve helped them to get where they want to be.

What has been your proudest Engage to Change moment?

My proudest Engage to Change moment has to be when I helped an individual who couldn’t travel independently, tell the time, or deal with money, to use the bus to travel to his local town. I felt so proud when he stepped off the bus for the first time having completed his first journey independently.

Bethan Hughes, Employment Officer

What is your role on Engage to Change?

As an Employment Officer I meet with the young people on the programme and find out their likes and dislikes r.e the world of work. Sometimes it is not obvious what role would suit them, but as I come to know them a little better some job roles become more clear. I will then meet with different employers that fit the criteria with the aim of matching them with the young person.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

It is very interesting and rewarding work, especially when a placement is found that works well for both parties involved.

What has been your proudest Engage to Change moment?

My proudest moments have been when the young people have completed their placements and have managed to secure paid employment. Seeing them so happy and proud of their achievements make me very proud.

Tell us a few of your favourite things…

My main interest outside of work is golf, although a very frustrating game at times. I also enjoy playing badminton, and love a good film.
