Engage to Change at the Welsh Autism Show
Last Thursday 28th September members of the Engage to Change team from Learning Disability Wales and ELITE Supported Employment were in attendance at the Welsh Autism Show, held at Cardiff City Stadium. Armed with suitcases full of leaflets, flyers, merchandise, and chocolates, we set out our stand to anticipate the arrival of approximately 2000 ticket-holders throughout the day.
We were pleased to catch up with Richard Mylan and Jaco, the stars of the BBC One documentary Life With Autism that featured Gerraint and Jenna from Engage to Change earlier this year. Richard and Jaco opened the show, a full day packed with exhibitors showcasing their products and services, seminars with a range of speakers, and the opportunity to meet with other individuals, families and professionals.
Throughout the day attendees continued to stop by our stand for a chat and to find out more about what Engage to Change offers, meaning we ended the day with far lighter suitcases than we started with! Gerraint was interviewed by Able Radio, who were broadcasting from the event, by none other than fellow Engage to Change participant Travis.
A big thank you to the organisers for their work on this fantastic event, and for providing the opportunity for us to raise awareness of the project and speak directly to those we hope to support with our work.
