This week, we are shining the spotlight on some of the most crucial members of our large Engage to Change team. Meet Annie, Gillian, and Michael, job coaches from ELITE Supported Employment, whose role it is to support young people in their work placements to learn new tasks and develop their skills.

Annie Walker, Job Coach

What is your role on Engage to Change?

My role on Engage to Change is to offer one to one support in the workplace. This could include anything from travel training to work or social interaction.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing young people succeed in the workplace through the support Elite has offered. Seeing a client go from being very shy and secluded to greeting customers and helping them with queries is very rewarding.

What has been your proudest Engage to Change moment?

My proudest Engage to Change moment comes from one of our clients. This client is very shy and nervous, during their work trial they were very concerned about how well they were doing. After the work trial, a paid job opportunity has been set up for more hours, proving how the client has become an invaluable part of the team.

Tell us a few of your favourite things…

Outside of work I love taking my little puppy Lola on adventures.

What has been your proudest Engage to Change moment?

After coaching one of my clients, to see them  travel to work independently, on the bus (who previously had a phobia about handling money and public transport ) and also do a very productive job in a busy environment.
